This work is a new series exploring the use of textiles as coverage. There is a quilted element that was at the origin of Ruben’s process with textiles, this time around applied over a structure characteristic of the artist’s style. The patterned fabric with Philip Guston inspired motif was designed by the artist during his textile and surface design studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Guston has been an inspiration for many artists over the years and this is an homage to the titan’s legacy.
